Rain or Shine...

We decided even though a big rain storm was coming that we would go to Harvard, MA and go to Carlson Orchards to pick some apples. Then to Old Mill Restaurant in Westminster, MA. We lucked out big time and it rained the whole way there then stopped just in time for us to pick apples and started up again as we were getting into the car. If anyone hasn't been to the Old Mill and lives out here, it is a must see/eat place. We loved it! And so did the girls. Click here for more pictures.
This is where we stopped for cider donuts, but they didn't have any. Thanks Matt for sacrificing yourself in the rain for our tummies. Too, bad they didn't have any:(

Brooksby Farms

We had a blast the other day with our friends at Brooksby Farms. It's an Apple Orchard too, but we ended up going on a really busy day. A lot of schools go on field trips here this time of year. MJ trying to feed the chickens.

Jungle Gyms

Our friends Keli and Alvin seem to turn into Jungle Gym's whenever they come over to our house. It's a good thing the girls like football too, or we would have a had a hard time watching BSU beat Oregon on Saturday.

The Mess Monster is Back!

Playing with markers (washable one's) equaled lipstick in LL's mind. Or maybe we will call her the Joker.

Slivers! Ouch!

The other day we were playing outside and the girls got some slivers. MJ had about 20, and LL got about 4. We spent most of the next couple of days trying to coax them into sitting still enough to get most of them out.

What? Isn't this how you clean your kids? Why use soap and water when you have a vacuum.

Breaking Dawn

I Just finished Breaking Dawn by: Stephenie MeyerI know, I know, I am probably one of the last to read this, but I had to finish the last book The Host before I started this one. I really liked this one. I hear that some people were upset with the book but I liked how it all came together in this one. It was a good read and recommend it.

Inspiring words...

"Daddy my juice is shrinking into my mouth" - MJ

"LL do you want to pretend to die in our room?"- MJ
This last one was while they were playing Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. One of their favorite princess games to play.

Our Last Beach Day

We are so sad to say that we had our last beach day. Now that the weather is turning cold and Matt actually has to go to work (we are excited for him to start) we took advantage of the last of the warm days and drove to Rockport, MA for a nice relaxing beach day.
Oh and the water was pretty cold.
LL sitting on the turtle that we made instead of a sandcastle.
MJ's turn to ride the turtle.

Tourists and frogs?

We played tourists last week. We took a fun trip to Quincy, MA to see all the John Adams stuff there. Then took a fun trip to Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA. I know I know you are thinking how can a Cemetery be fun? But if you have been to this one you know what I mean. It is huge and has a nice big pond in the middle with hundreds of frogs and usually ducks. John Adams Birthplace
John Quincy Adams Birthplace, just a few feet from John Adams birthplace and this house is actually older then the first picture, I know doesn't look like it but it's like 20 years difference.

John Adams Personal Library, the inside was just as nice as the outside.
Mt. Auburn Cemetery Pond. What are they looking at?
oh!
Now let's see how long it takes us to catch one. I don't know if they frown upon this or not, but it's too late now.
It took us 15 minutes at least to catch it. We finally caught the little guy in a bread sack.
Right after I took this picture the frog jumped up on MJ's neck. She froze and had this real look of terror, then it jumped off and she giggled saying that it tickled her neck.

Take Me Out To The Ball Game...

So we were blessed with some great friends here that got tickets then decided to go out of town that weekend. Yes you read it right, we got Red Sox Tickets! Thank you Layton's. And it just happened that we had three tickets and our friend Brad came that weekend so we could all go to a game. It was so much fun. I can't wait to go again.
Oh and did I mention they were playing the White Sox so we got to see Ken Griffey Jr. play. He did pretty well, even though the Red Sox won!

Here comes the wave, it actually made about three rotations clear around the stadium before it fizzeled out.

Friends Visiting

We were so lucky to have some friends come visit us. Brady and Nicole came out from Utah to see Boston and New York, and I'm dumb and didn't get a picture of them here, but then three days later Brad came to visit from New York. We had so much fun showing off our new love, Boston!
Swan boats in the Public Garden, okay so if you have never been to Boston or ever read Make Way for Ducklings you are missing out. Go to the library and get it to read to your kids and if you don't have kids tell the librarian you do. It's super cute and after that you can come visit us and go where the ducks go. It's one of the girls favorite things to do in Boston.
This is all of us on the Swan Boat, oh and that is why I take the pictures, then you don't have to see my big belly blocking everyone else on the boat:)
silly faces on the Make Way for Ducklings statues
Matt, LL and MJ squeeze onto Mrs. Mallard
We decided to take our friends to a different place that isn't on the Freedom Trail called Beacon Hill, but it is a must see here in Boston. Oh and this is a picture of John Kerry's house. I felt like the paparazzi. And this is something I learned in New England. A lot of these older homes have these on the front steps leading into the house. It's a boot/shoe scraper. Pretty cool for a country girl that use to just use the edge of a step, that was probably way too much info about my past.
