Natural History Museum

I go walking each morning with a couple of ladies here in the apartments. We have so much fun doing things together. They both have kids close in age to McKenna and Lily. So we all decided to go to the Natural History Museum on Harvard Campus. It's known for the glass flower exhibit which was really neat and scary with 6 little fingers reaching out for each one (good thing they were all in cases).

McKenna especially liked the animal section of the museum. Some of the animals she didn't know what to think of. I think this Rhino scared her at first then she thought it was funny.

This is Kristina (sorry if it's spelled different) and McKenna being cute pals and holding hands at the museum. Later on they decided to have a big hug and ended up knocking each other over and bonking heads on display cases. It was a good cry session after that. It reminded me of Claire and McKenna in nursery in Williamsburg.

And nothing topped off the trip more then our little friend Adam falling asleep on the way home from the museum. And yes that is a cracker in his mouth. The best part was when he woke up and started right where he left off eating the cracker. Cute little guy!

The Lueck's

This is a picture of my cousins the Lueck's. I am so glad that my cousin Toni sent this picture of their great family. I miss you guys so much and sad that I can't be there to spend time with Uncle Bud. We love you and can't wait to come visit real soon. And to hold that cute baby girl! (You know we love baby girls!)

Friends in Boston?

So we had a sort of visit from Leah. I thought it was fun to talk to her on the phone and thank her for thinking of us. They came out to Boston for the Mitt Romney call-a-thon. But they flew in, had dinner, then woke up and started to call people for donations. Then they are going to be bused out to the airport to fly home. We are sad that we didn't get to hang out but it was fun talking none the less.

Two Left Feet?

So Matt and I got to go out to dinner and Ball Room Dancing last night. We were treated to dinner by a partner at the Law Firm that Matt is working at and then out to a free Dance Class where we learned that not only did we have two left feet but maybe just one foot. Matt and I had some good laughs as we stepped on each others toes and almost fell down all night. It was a blast and we actually signed up to take a 30 min class in two weeks. We can't wait to learn more to discover which foot is the right and which is the left. Maybe we will try and snap some pictures of us next time for some fun.

Sunday Dinner

This is our friend Alvin. We thought it was pretty funny that Lily wanted to take that big of a bite. We had a fun Father's Day dinner with the Kwok's and love when they can come visit us. Matt had a good Father's Day too. He got what he always wants and then after getting his presents tune us out for about 5 mins while he read his books to see how they were. He loves his books!

Light House?

So in driving up to Salem and the beach I requested that we drive to a light house so I can take some pictures and see it. Well I guess we picked a weird one because this wasn't really what we had in mind. It was still fun to see and looking out into the water you could see a beautiful view and thousands of sail boats. Also looking far enough out you could see downtown Boston.

Beach Bums!

We drove up to Marblehead, MA about 45 mins away to a beach. This beach was so cool too. It had a playground right there by the water, a covered eating area and Lime Ricky's Beach Hut (a fun beach food place). We also went up to Salem and Swampscott, MA to see if that is somewhere that we would like to move if we are invited back for a job with Matt's law firm here in Boston. We loved it there and hope that it would work out. Doesn't hurt being next to the beach and really close to our good friends Keli and Alvin Kwok.

Children's Museum-Boston

Friday we took the girls to the children's museum here in Boston. They had so much fun. We spent a couple hours looking at everything and playing but still didn't get to see it all. McKenna liked the bubbles room. There were even a couple of other fun rooms like the construction zone, music and of course Arthur and friends. We took a couple of pictures for Uncle Jay too. Lily was a little scared of the Jack Hammer at first and McKenna didn't want to get into the Bobcat with out Matt but we thought Uncle Jay needed these fun ones to see how city kids do it.

Matt's Work

This was a fun weekend/Saturday trip. We took the bus down to where Matt works and walked around. We hadn't seen the building yet so the girls and I enjoyed the trip down. This picture is at the water fountain by the First Church of Christ, Scientist headquarters (not Scientology).
The dome top building is the building that Matt works in. Funny looking yes but still really neat to see among all the other sky scrapers. McKenna thought it was pretty funny that she could touch the water. This is a new skill that Lily has learned. I don't know where she picked it up but she now takes their play cell phone and opens it up then puts it up to her head and starts trying to talk. It can get pretty funny when she really gets into it.

So far we have had a great time here in Boston/Cambridge. We have already made some good friends and Matt already received a calling in the ward. We found that Boston drivers are different then anywhere else we have ever been and I swear that I never want to ride a bike here because I would get ran over. We found our favorite pizza restaurant already and are in searches of other good places to suggest to anyone coming this direction. Oh, and the "nut lady" as I refer to her is really nice. She comes every day by our apartments and feeds all the squirrels nuts, says hi to them, then walks away.

Bonk!

So last night at about midnight Matt and I had finally fallen asleep when we were awoken by a loud thud sound then crying. I thought it was Lily and that some how she had gotten out of the crib, but it turned out to be McKenna falling out of bed and actually their bed here is pretty high off the ground and these are the carpets that are thin and right on the concrete floor. She cried for a while then fell back to sleep and we put pillows on the floor so if it happened again she would have a soft landing. But this morning when I asked McKenna if she remembered falling out of bed she looked at me like I was crazy and thought I was joking. Poor girl got hurt and doesn't even remember it.

All around fun!

So as you can see we just purchased McKenna's first bike (tricycle). She is so excited because a lot of the kids her age in these apartments have bikes and now she can ride around with them. It was her potty toy. We reward her for going so many times in a two week period with the tricycle.
Another exciting piece of information that we just found out is that my parents are coming out to Boston to stay for a couple of days at the end of this month. And that means that Matt and I get to go out for our anniversary for two years in a row. How great is that!!! Oh and I wanted to say hi to Del who is checking my blogs now. I miss you guys and hope to see you soon. Tell Mandy hi for us!
